About The Position

USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, is seeking a Research Lab Technician II to join its team at the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension lab. The position will perform a wide range of duties in support of our kidney research program. The duties include mouse husbandry procedures including, but not limited to, maintenance of breeding colonies, weaning of litters, mouse identification, collection of tissue, blood, and urine, and maintenance of records in a computer database. In addition, the position will assist in planning, performance, and interpretation of animal studies. Experimental techniques including mouse surgeries, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, genotyping, quantitative PCR, bioinformatics, and advance tissue clearing approaches may also be performed (after training). The position also requires lab management duties including ensuring animal research regulatory compliance, administration of IACIC protocols, general lab maintenance, ordering and reagent preparation and other duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years.
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science.
  • Preferred Experience: 1 year of work in a basic science lab.
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Kidney and mouse research.

Responsibilities
