About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Technician II to join our research team. This role involves complex laboratory experiments, primarily in molecular biology and rodent-based studies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PCR, genotyping, animal handling, and surgical techniques, as well as strong organizational and data management skills.

Requirements

• Ability to listen and communicate effectively
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology to interact with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology techniques, including PCR, genotyping, gel electrophoresis, and tissue slicing using cryostat or vibratome.
• Handle rodents (mice and rats) for procedures such as SC/IP injections, sham surgeries, husbandry, and placement of intravenous catheters and vascular access ports.
• Coordinate and execute studies involving self-administration and telemetry.
• Prepare drug solutions and calculate dosages for experiments.
• Organize schedules and collaborate with lab members to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain accurate experimental records and verify data entry.
• Manage lab operations, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
• Collect and analyze data using relevant software packages.
• Ensure compliance with protocols and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
