Research Lab Technician I
About The Position
Maternal Child Adolescent Virology Research Laboratory at USC Pediatrics is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician I. Working directly under the supervision of the Associate Professor of Research Pediatrics, the Research Laboratory Technician I works closely with the Research Laboratory Technician Ill, Supervisor, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will be motivated, pro-active, resourceful, and detail-oriented. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to be adaptable. Candidates should have experience working in a BSL2 laboratory.

Responsibilities
- Preparing experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines
- Handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols
- Setting up and operating standard and complex laboratory equipment
- Maintaining accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments
- Performing experimental analysis and interpretations
- Stocking and maintaining laboratory supplies, including monitoring inventory levels and orders
- Maintaining laboratory environment in orderly and operable conditions
- Performing laboratory procedures using proper blood borne pathogen safety under the direction of the USC Safety office, the laboratory director, and laboratory supervisor
- Maintaining biorepository to include: electronic system, alarm system, liquid nitrogen tanks, and ultra-low freezers
- Participating in rotating call to cover maternal deliveries, clinical study participation, and emergency biorepository maintenance approximately 50% of after-hours including weekends and holidays
- Follows established USC and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan
