Job Summary The Waldor Lab at Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital studies bacterial pathogenesis with an emphasis on applying next-generation sequencing technologies to decipher various aspects of host-pathogen biology. A full description of our research and publications can be found at www.waldorlab.com. Qualifications The Waldor Lab is seeking a Research Lab Tech I to assist with various tasks in the lab. These include: 1) Mouse colony management 2) Assistance with next generation sequencing experiments 3) Administrative tasks such as instrument maintenance and ordering supplies 4) Project-specific experiments We encourage the candidate to bring their own ideas and enthusiasm to projects in the lab. After training for job-specific tasks, we anticipate that the candidate will help design and execute experiments for projects that they are interested in as well as independently pursue new areas of exploration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 0-1 yr of experience.
  • Attention to detail, accurate recordkeeping, and effective communication are required.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with general laboratory techniques and handling mice is preferred but not necessary.
