About The Position

The Research Investigator at Baylor Scott and White Research Institute (BSWRI) is responsible for independently leading and managing research efforts. This role involves collaboration with other researchers and clinicians to secure external funding, execute study deliverables as a principal investigator, and disseminate research findings through publications and presentations at various conferences.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of relevant experience after Post Doctoral Fellowship, or three years of experience in a research lab, clinical lab, or animal care facility.
  • History of engagement in submission for external grants at the federal, foundation, or other level.
  • Ability to publish in high-impact and peer-reviewed journals, including first-author submissions.
  • Ability to present research study findings at local, national, and international conferences.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and study execution.
  • Knowledge of key safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements for work performed.
  • Willingness to mentor students, postdoctoral research fellows, or key study personnel.
  • Strong communication, writing, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary research team.

Responsibilities

  • Applies for external funding at the federal, foundation or other level and incorporates reviewer feedback into resubmissions.
  • Serves as principal investigator, site-PI, or co-investigator on investigator-initiated or industry-sponsored research studies and successfully executes all study deliverables.
  • Disseminates research in high impact, peer-reviewed journals and presents at local, national, or international conferences.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Institute, clinical service lines, and greater community, including attending or presenting at seminars, journal clubs, thesis defenses, etc.
  • Involved in teaching and mentoring activities of students, residents, and/or postdoctoral research fellows.
