Position: Research Intern – TS/MS (Summer 2026) Overview: This position is based at the Elanco Technology Center (ETC) in Indianapolis, IN, and supports Viral Vaccine Life Cycle Management projects. The ETC serves as a central resource for Technical Services and Manufacturing Science (TS/MS) across Elanco’s internal manufacturing network, providing expertise in virology, bioanalytical chemistry, and related disciplines. The Research Intern will support the Virology team by contributing to process improvements aimed at enhancing viral antigen stability, developing bioanalytical methods, and assisting with method validation and transfer to Elanco vaccine manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of immunoassays, qPCR assays, cell culture, and virology techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work with focus and persistence.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with microtiter-based assays.
  • Cell culture experience, including ELISA and/or qPCR assays.
  • Experience with bioanalytical method development and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adherent cell lines and perform virus infections and virus titrations.
  • Support projects focused on improving vaccine stability and implementing process enhancements to increase antigen yields.
  • Conduct testing to support the development, validation, and transfer of bioanalytical assays.
  • Follow Bio-Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) requirements and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding project timelines, testing progress, and any technical challenges.
