Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers, who pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment. This Research Internship provides an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team at the intersection of research, engineering and product incubation. The Research Intern will work with the primary project mentors to formulate well‑scoped deliverables for the 12‑week internship (e.g., a functional demo, proof framework, and/or technical report). As a part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Research Intern will also have opportunities to influence the next-generation device design through their empirical findings. This Research Internship will include the following: (1) Conducting research and evaluation in the area of multi-modal sensing. (2) Prototyping on Mobile OS and Android application development. (3) Innovating on device security and authentication. (4) Working with multiple device form-factors to optimize for real-world constraints (battery life, sensing fidelity, user workflows etc.). (5) Performing preliminary user evaluation towards optimization.
