About The Position

Microsoft Research (MSR) is seeking Research Interns to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge projects in the use of large language models for data collection and reasoning. Research Interns will collaborate with world-class researchers and engineers to advance the state of the art.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
- In addition to the qualifications below, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position as well as a cover letter and any relevant work or research samples. After you submit your application, a request for letters may be sent to your list of references on your behalf. Note that reference letters cannot be requested until after you have submitted your application, and furthermore, that they might not be automatically requested for all candidates. You may wish to alert your letter writers in advance, so they will be ready to submit your letter.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated background in machine learning, natural language processing, databases, or related areas.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
- Proficient problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with commercial and/or open-source large language models, SQL.
- Prior research experience demonstrated through publications or projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in large language models and data collection, cleaning, transformation, and fusion.
- Design and implement experiments, prototypes, or simulations.
- Analyze results and contribute to technical reports or publications.
- Collaborate with mentors and team members to achieve project goals.
