Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers, who pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment. The Economics and Computation group has multiple Research Intern positions for the summer of 2026. Research areas include market design, the economics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), economics and computation, social learning, applied microeconomics, microeconomic theory, and behavioral economics. Locations include Microsoft Research New England, Microsoft Research New York City, and Microsoft Research Redmond. The Economics and Computation group includes researchers and postdocs at both MSR NE and MSR NYC who collaborate closely with each other and incoming interns. Microsoft Research New England and Microsoft Research New York City are comprised of approximately fifty full-time researchers and postdocs working in AI for systems, biomedical machine learning, computational social science, economics and computation, FATE, machine learning and AI, machine learning and statistics, reinforcement learning, and sociotechnical systems.
