About The Position

The Research & Instruction Librarian supports students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing research assistance and instructional services both in-person and online. This role collaborates with colleagues in the Learning Commons on instructional initiatives and creates and maintains learning materials, promoting equitable access and student support. This position receives general direction from the Coordinator of Library Research & Instruction and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Research methods and resources
  • Knowledge of: Pedagogical theories, inclusive teaching practices, and ACRL Information Literacy Framework
  • Knowledge of: Instructional design principles and learning technologies, including LibGuides
  • Knowledge of: Library services, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of: Academic program structures within designated liaison areas
  • Knowledge of: Ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic research, instruction, and work-related tasks
  • Knowledge of: Trends and emerging best practices in academic librarianship and professional development
  • Skills in: Designing and delivering engaging, effective, and inclusive library instruction across modalities
  • Skills in: Applying inclusive pedagogy and ACRL Information Literacy Framework
  • Skills in: Conducting reference interviews and research consultations
  • Skills in: Creating and maintaining research guides and online instructional content
  • Skills in: Project management, planning, and assessment
  • Skills in: Using and troubleshooting library systems and databases
  • Ability to: Contribute to team-based instructional initiatives and pursue personal specialization
  • Ability to: Work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve goals
  • Ability to: Adapt to evolving technologies and service models
  • Ability to: Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to: Build and maintain professional relationships with campus and community stakeholders
  • Ability to: Demonstrate versatility and problem-solving in dynamic library environments
  • Ability to: Engage in continuous learning and professional development
  • Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university
  • More than one year of work experience in a library setting

  • At least one year of work experience in an academic library with instruction responsibilities
