About The Position

The School of Social Sciences is seeking a Level B research-only candidate to undertake independent and collaborative research within a multidisciplinary project, Empowering households in resource-efficient sustainability transitions, in partnership with Monash University, RMIT, and the University of Manchester. The project explores how households can actively contribute to system-wide resource efficiency across energy, water, food, and waste. You will play a key role in the project’s conceptual development, undertake qualitative data collection and analysis, and co-author publications that support environmental, economic, and social outcomes. Working closely with academic, government, and industry stakeholders, you will support the delivery of research activities, including project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication. This includes managing research data, organising interviews and workshops, maintaining project communications, and contributing to funding submissions and dissemination activities. You will also engage in professional development opportunities, including participation in conferences and seminars, while helping to generate insights that inform policy and service innovation.

Requirements

  • Hold a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or have equivalent research experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research environment
  • Proven experience in qualitative data collection, analysis, and writing for publication, including a track record of refereed research outputs
  • Experience engaging with diverse householders and policy partners
  • Strong project administration and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collegiate approach to working with others
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with analytical software such as NVivo and/or Multicriteria Mapping
