The Vachon lab is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow with prior computational experience using genotyping and sequencing data. The research focus of the Vachon lab is to understand genetic risk factors for multiple myeloma and MGUS, the precursor to multiple myeloma, and their contribution to known clinical risk factors. Using multiple genetic and genomic approaches, the lab will identify genetic variants associated with risk of MGUS, multiple myeloma, and specifically, those that associate with progression from MGUS to multiple myeloma. The expectation is the applicant will perform large-scale genetic association analyses in a cloud computing environment, manage and extract key information from large genetic and clinical databases, perform basic statistical analyses, and communicate study findings through writing of manuscripts. Prior knowledge and use of genetic association software (e.g. PLINK) and statistical analysis software (e.g. R) is preferred. Additional training will be provided.
