The Translational Neuroproteomics Laboratory (Rossoll Lab) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our NIH-funded project investigating the role of nuclear-import receptor proteins (importins) as modifiers of TDP-43 phase transition and toxicity in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This project integrates cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and animal model systems to dissect the mechanisms by which importins acting as chaperons restore TDP-43 solubility, nuclear localization, and function, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic strategies for TDP-43 proteinopathies. The Rossoll Lab is part of the Department of Neuroscience and the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities in molecular biology, microscopy, and proteomics. A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program. A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
