About The Position

This position will be based in Fruita, CO at the Western Colorado Research Center, Grand Valley Position Summary: The Western Colorado Research Center (WCRC) is seeking a farm laborer to support agricultural field research. This seasonal, full-time position (up to 40 hours per week) provides hands-on experience to advance knowledge in agricultural, soil and water-related science. The Research Farm Hand will work alongside professionals and researchers to grow a variety of crops and gather data on the progression of the crops. Work Unit Description: The Western Colorado Research Center (WCRC) consists of three research sites that collaborate to promote regional engagement in community development, food systems, and natural resources projects. The three sites are: Orchard Mesa (Grand Junction, CO), Rogers Mesa (Hotchkiss, CO), and Grand Valley (Fruita, CO). The Grand Valley location is where this position is located. It’s focus is the effective use of tillage, cover cropping techniques, alternative forages and evaluating a variety of irrigation systems. Requirements

  • Applicants must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to work in environmental conditions found in farm work
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs
  • The ability to work independently and with teams of people
  • must have a valid CO drivers license

  • A strong desire to work in agriculture and/or the pursuit of agricultural research
