About The Position

The Research Farm Assistant 2 position at the LSU Agricultural Center involves providing specialized routine care and maintenance of animals, crops, equipment, and facilities in a research environment. This role requires knowledge of complex farming practices and skilled operation of farm machinery to perform various agricultural tasks.

Requirements

• One year of experience in the care of animals, crops, or farm-related equipment and machinery operation.
• College credit in agricultural courses may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate complex farm machinery/equipment for field production techniques such as chemical application and plot harvesting.
• Care for livestock, including mixing and administering feed, transporting, administering medication, and checking health.
• Make adjustments and repairs to farm equipment.
• Keep simple records on feed mix ingredients, consumption, produce mortality, and other farming operations.
• Learn to lay out research plots.
• Perform comparable farming tasks in other agricultural research areas such as forestry and aquaculture.
