About The Position

The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate I position at the Panpradist Lab focuses on advancing biomedical engineering through the development of innovative diagnostic solutions. The role involves working on molecular diagnostics, microfluidics, and additive manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on creating sustainable tools for underserved communities. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of diagnostic assays and devices, particularly for low-resource settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Master's Degree and significant relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, optimize, and conduct molecular experiments and techniques including nucleic acid extraction, amplification, detection, cloning and sequencing.
  • Design, develop, prototype, and fabricate diagnostic devices including microfluidics and biosensors.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software for technical reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including engineers, clinicians, and public health experts to integrate diagnostic technologies into practical applications.
  • Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students, providing hands-on training in molecular biology techniques, 3D printing, assay optimization, and data analysis.
  • Oversee the purchase, assembly, operation, maintenance, and repair of lab equipment, including 3D printers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
