About The Position

We are seeking Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering students for an internship in the Strategic Systems Operations Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is. This position will be onsite State College, PA or Reston, VA locations. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

Requirements

• Completion of your sophomore year in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a comparable field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Interest in one of more of the following topics: Software Development and Design, Digital Logic and Embedded Programming, Signal Processing, Radio Frequency (RF) Hardware and Phenomenology, Communications
• Moderate skill level in any of the following: Python, MATLAB, C, C++, LabView
• You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
• All positions at ARL require candidates to possess the ability to obtain a government security clearance

Responsibilities

• Research, summarize, and present information to internal - and potentially - external reviewers
• Work as part of a team, designing, programming, integrating and/or testing hardware and software, algorithms, and systems.
• Create a documentation package for your work
• Present your work to the division leadership team
