About The Position

CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an internship in petroleum engineering. The intern will be responsible for conducting research studies on unconventional reservoirs. The intern will also be responsible for managing and utilizing a drilling information database. This position reports directly to the R&D Manager of Geosciences.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
  • Advanced understanding of reservoir engineering, geomechanics, and hydraulic fracturing techniques.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as ResFrac, INTERSECT, tNavigator, etc.
  • Experience in writing and debugging Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
  • Proven ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability.
  • Effective time management, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering, or related Engineering degree.
  • Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States of America

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all business activities in agreement with CNPC USA core values.
  • Conduct reservoir and hydraulic simulation studies.
  • Conduct data analysis using a drilling information database.
  • Review literature to summarize the current technical trends of hydraulic fracturing, improved oil recovery, or energy transition.
