About The Position

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a Research Engineer II, Biomechanical Research. Join our talented team at a global medical device company focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better. The main objective of this position is to lead, conduct, and coordinate biomechanical research studies and product testing in a laboratory setting and report findings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a biomechanical laboratory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • General understanding of mechanical and biomechanical testing methods and principles.
  • Able to complete data analysis, statistical comparisons, and write technical reports.
  • General understanding of Good Document Practices.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office software and some CAD software experience.
  • Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy.
  • Familiar with orthopedic implants and surgical techniques.
  • Capable of writing scientific articles for peer-reviewed publications.

Nice To Haves

  • Publication experience preferred.
  • Robotic (e.g., KUKA) testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and perform biomechanical research studies aligned with Arthrex's strategic research initiatives.
  • Conduct static and dynamic mechanical testing and cadaveric testing.
  • Facilitate evaluation of new technologies and design concepts.
  • Participate in the preparation, writing, and submission process of scientific articles.
  • Collaborate with surgeons for ongoing studies and potential future studies or projects.
  • Perform mechanical testing studies by preparing test samples, collecting data, record keeping, and statistically analyzing data.
  • Prepare technical reports and disseminate information to facilitate product related business decision making.
  • Work with product management or engineering to identify, analyze, and support new opportunities for added value or future growth.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness.
  • Operate a variety of materials testing machines (including a KUKA robot), gauges, and software to obtain requested testing results.
  • Maintain and update records of work performed to contribute to team and personal metrics.
  • Maintain a leading-edge understanding of research and applications in relation to assigned portfolio(s).
  • Comply with all laboratory safety instructions and wear PPE as appropriate.
