The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University is seeking candidates for multiple positions for Research Engineers. This is a pool posting for future vacancies in the job classification of Research Engineer I/II/III/IV/V/VI. The positions are full-time and are offered as two-year limited term appointments, with the continuation of employment contingent upon the availability of funding. Research Engineers will conduct research in various fields of engineering, focusing on the design and development of technology, as well as carrying out investigations, evaluations, and applications of engineering theories and principles. The role involves performing a variety of research and development activities that require the application of engineering practices and principles. Research Engineers will be responsible for designing, operating, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment and engineered systems. They will also advise faculty, postdocs, students, and staff on engineering design, modifications, prototype and process development, and analysis procedures. Additionally, they will perform failure analysis, optimization studies, and other investigations, evaluating findings to develop new concepts, equipment, or processes. Ensuring that supplies are available and operational for use in projects is also a key responsibility. Some positions may require managing local computer systems for laboratory functionality. Research Engineers will develop proposals, budgets, schedules, and progress reports, presenting results to both internal and external stakeholders. They will also prepare technical reports for long and short-range planning, contributing to the overall research objectives of the college.
