About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Research & Development Intern to join our team located
in Akron, OH. This internship opportunity is for Summer 2026.

The Research & Development Intern will gain hands-on experience in an applied
manufacturing environment while supporting key R&D initiatives. This internship
provides exposure to material development, analytical testing, production
support, risk management, and sustainability-focused projects. The intern will
have the opportunity to apply analytical techniques and experimental design
concepts to real-world challenges, contributing to ongoing innovation and
continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field
• Prior laboratory, manufacturing, or technical coursework experience preferred

Nice To Haves

• Internship or co-op experience in an industrial or R&D setting is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist with material compounding activities, including preparation and documentation
• Support material characterization using analytical laboratory equipment
• Participate in product qualification testing and data analysis
• Aid with production support, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives
• Contribute to new sustainability projects, including material evaluation and data collection
• Document test results, observations, and conclusions in a clear and organized manner
• Follow all safety, quality, and laboratory best practices
