Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or related Engineering field required.
  • Mechanical Engineering or related experience preferred, such as internship or direct work experience in similar position.
  • Must demonstrate computer literacy; Understanding of CAD software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Passport.

Responsibilities

  • Follow product development workflows to ensure product development meets all customer and internal requirements and expectations.
  • Mix of independent efforts and integration within cross functional teams interlacing internal and external sources ranging customer, supplier, departmental, and production floor representation.
  • Support the Planning Stage of development including strategy to meet intents in design and performance, understanding potential failure modes, Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMA), and planning to achieve targets.
  • Support the Development Stage of the Product Lifecycle within the cross functional team, while leading Design specific activities.
  • Support Design Reviews with customers and lead Design Reviews with suppliers and internal interested parties.
  • Conduct internal Design Reviews efficiently to address and solve issues quickly.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Design suites to build the 3-dimensional math data for product development.
  • Manage and comply with internal requirements throughout the development and product lifecycle using the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
  • Utilize tools and historical documents to ensure product design meets best practices.
  • Ensure goals (Quality, Mass, Cost, Timing) continue to be met during the development process.
  • Ensure design validation and verification plans continue to meet expectations during the development cycle.
  • Create and maintain 2D Specification Drawings based off the 3D math data.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) & Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate performance.
  • Develop Bills of Materials, owning Parts List identification with quantities and specifications.
  • Utilize new part setup via internal processes for receiving and stocking purposes.
  • Aid in developing Design Of Experiments (DOE) to test the design intent.
  • Conduct prototyping efforts through 3D printing and other resources.
  • Support Production Stage activities and utilize the Change Order (CO) process for product changes.
  • Review, develop, and implement cost saving opportunities.
  • Research new innovations considering product improvements.
  • Support and lead special activities including design competitions and vehicle builds.
  • Fulfill and maintain training requirements and address opportunities for advanced training.
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of nonconforming products.
  • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation.
