About The Position

The Research & Development Engineer will design and develop products for Dee Zee and its customers. The role requires the ability to work in an environment exposed to elements such as coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or related Engineering field required.
• Mechanical Engineering or related experience preferred, such as internship or direct work experience in a similar position.
• Must demonstrate computer literacy and understanding of CAD software.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Passport.

Responsibilities

• Follow product development workflows to ensure product development meets all customer and internal requirements and expectations.
• Engage in a mix of independent efforts and integration within cross-functional teams, involving internal and external sources including customers, suppliers, and production floor representation.
• Support the Planning Stage of development, including strategy for design and performance, understanding potential failure modes, and planning to achieve targets.
• Support the Development Stage of the Product Lifecycle within the cross-functional team, leading design-specific activities and conducting design reviews.
• Utilize Computer Aided Design suites to build 3-dimensional math data for product development.
• Manage and comply with internal requirements throughout the development and product lifecycle using the Product Data Management system.
• Utilize tools and historical documents to ensure product design meets best practices and customer requirements.
• Communicate potential and actual deviations from planning goals to the cross-functional team.
• Ensure design validation and verification plans meet expectations during the development cycle.
• Create and maintain 2D Specification Drawings based on 3D math data.
• Utilize Computer Aided Engineering and Finite Element Analysis tools to evaluate performance.
• Develop Bills of Materials and aid in manufacturing steps and processes.
• Conduct prototyping efforts through 3D printing and other resources.
• Support Production Stage activities and utilize the Change Order process for product changes.
• Research new innovations for product improvements and support special activities as assigned.
• Fulfill and maintain training requirements and address opportunities for advanced training.
• Ability to stop the production line due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products.
• Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation and improvement suggestions.
