About The Position

The Research Coordinator III in the Department of Neurosurgery at UTHealth Houston is responsible for managing various clinical research projects related to epilepsy and tumor research. This role involves overseeing participant recruitment, enrollment, and monitoring, as well as preparing clinical trial budgets and acting as a liaison between the lab and sponsors. The position requires a strong understanding of IRB protocol writing, FDA submissions, and clinical trial management, with a focus on projects sponsored by NIH and industry partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, with the possibility of substituting experience with equivalent education beyond the minimum requirement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Preferred: Certification from SOCRA, ACRP, RACC, CIP, or RAC.
  • If nursing duties are required, an RN license issued by the state of Texas is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IRB protocol writing and submissions.
  • Experience with FDA/IDE submissions and clinicaltrials.gov.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day project management coordination for research projects including personnel, facilities, and supplies.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to private foundations and governmental agencies.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance or redirect resources across various research projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepares and manages budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests, and authorizes expenditures for multiple projects.
  • Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees, ensuring staff training compliance.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Prepares draft reports and communications for departmental leadership.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Provides administrative direction and guidance to research and/or administrative staff.
  • May review contracts and develop training for staff.
  • May manage Human Resources activities for direct administrative reports.
