About The Position

The LOSC Research Climatologist (Assistant Professor - Research) must be an aggressive self-starter with a proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D in a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge in the computer sciences and geo-mapping analysis.
  • Proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences or M.S. in Physical/Environmental Sciences with a Weather/Climate Concentration.
  • M.S. in Computational Sciences will be considered with a demonstration of experience in managing weather/climate data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research efforts and drive the expansion of the LOSC's suite of data products and tools, with a focus on web-based interfaces.
  • Lead the development of sophisticated computer code for innovative data products and derivatives as defined by the State Climatologist and the LOSC team.
  • Integrate LOSC resources with LSU faculty to support applied and original research initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
