About The Position

As a S&T Research Chemist, you will aid in the development of new photochromic systems for next generation products. Our objective; develop innovative light management systems with improved performance properties. Requirements

  • PhD degree in Organic, Physical Chemistry or a related field with experience in synthesis and characterization.
  • 0+ years of industry experience or equivalent post-doctoral work with experience in organic synthesis.
  • Experience in the design, synthesis, and characterization of complex organic molecules is required.
  • Ability to critically analyze data is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A working knowledge of data visualization software such as python, JMP, or Igor is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience with photo-physics or photochemistry is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and synthesize new photochromic molecules for the development of future photochromic lens technologies.
  • Support dye design as well as supporting photochromic formulations for the development of future Transitions products.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of photochromic structure property relationships and the influence of coating chemistry including data extraction and analysis.
  • Evaluate data from photochromic measurement systems and use this information for design of future products.
  • Scale up and improve processes for selected photochromic materials.
  • Provide technical support to plant production.
  • Learn and develop working theories toward product improvement.
  • Design experiments to understand and support the design instrumentation for measuring photo-physical properties of photochromic systems.
  • Work with internal teams to solve technical problems to generate idea sharing and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to EHS and safety protocols.
  • Innovate solutions to complex problems using modern tools.
