About The Position

The Research Chemist at Arkema is responsible for developing innovative solutions to meet customer and market needs through experimentation with novel chemistries and printing methods. This role involves applying scientific principles in a laboratory setting to generate reliable results, collaborating with various teams, and addressing technical challenges to accelerate product development.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field with 5+ years of relevant industrial experience, or MS degree with 2+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in the Dental 3D Printing Industry is a plus.
  • Proficient with computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.).
  • Ability to write and present effectively at multiple levels both internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills to analyze data and explain conclusions clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong customer and collegial relationships.
  • Commitment to conducting work ethically and lawfully.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Dental 3D Printing Industry.
  • Familiarity with statistical DOE methods.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously researches new materials and printing processes to develop solutions that meet customer and market applications.
  • Plans and conducts laboratory studies and participates in processing trials to support commercialization of new technologies.
  • Prepares documentation to support scale-ups to pilot and manufacturing scales.
  • Develops formulations for specific market or customer needs and tunes for printability on a range of 3D printers.
  • Investigates new chemistries for utility in photocure 3D printing.
  • Identifies and uses internal and external resources to solve high priority technical problems.
  • Works with supervisor to analyze and develop solutions for customer requests.
  • Communicates scientifically based advice to customers under ambiguity and time pressures.
  • Develops and implements new analytical methods as needed to support project progress.
  • Uses statistical DOE methods to solve problems and analyze results.
  • Makes recommendations for project directions based on sound scientific principles.
