Summary: The Research Chemist will be primarily responsible for process improvements in the mixing plant, assistance with product commercialization, product optimization, new product development, raw material studies, material qualifications, and specific customer technical support while working to establish a fundamental technical understanding of rubber technology. Growth Potential Team-Oriented Environment What Success Looks Like: Process optimization to improve cycle times, throughput, efficiency, quality, and safety while working closely with technical team and leadership to organize, execute, and summarize results of process studies and mixing trials. Support product commercialization which may include plant scale-up trials, statistical analysis of product test data, and on-site customer support with moderate supervision. Execute new product development and optimization projects in accordance with specified design criteria using design of experiments and statistical analysis as needed. Organize technical studies to improve the fundamental understanding of the influence of various chemicals on processability or performance. Assist QA and R&D Technicians to support execution of experiments, assist with customer or internal root cause investigations, and assist with vendor quality audits. Maintain all work per the quality management system and EHS policies. Ability to work alone/unsupervised (make decisions, correct problems, complete tasks). Ability to work in a team environment utilizing communication, collaboration, and support. Develop statistical correlations showing the influence of raw materials in compounds. Your Credentials: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, or related field. 0-5 years of experience. Strong analytical, math, and statistical skills. Strong verbal and professional and technical writing skills and capability to summarize data in written report or presentation format. Capability to utilize Microsoft software.
