About The Position

The Research Biologist I is responsible for managing histology preparation and staining, using microscopy techniques, maintaining cell cultures, performing general maintenance and documentation in lab notebooks.

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience

Responsibilities

  • Managing histology preparation and staining (manual and automated) including trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning and routine staining
  • Perform basic stainer maintenance to include changing out reagents, dumping liquid waste
  • Support Sectioning by doing small studies and urgent studies and assisting with large studies
  • Scanning slides on the Aperio AT2 scanner and entering meta data
  • Completing optimized IHC and IF as directed
  • Capturing high quality images of slides using bright field and fluorescent microscopy techniques
  • Optimizing and implementing automated staining and imaging protocols including antibody optimization and routine running of developed protocols on experimental samples
  • Performing tissue culture, cell culture maintenance, in-vitro assays development and implementation
  • Be pro-active, flexible and capable of independent trouble shooting and problem solvingF
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the laboratory including maintenance of equipment, inventory management, and reagent ordering and ensuring a safe and clean working environment
  • Accurately enter information in Electronic Lab notebooks
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies
  • Follow the guidelines set forth by clients in the company Quality Manual and Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
