Harvard Business School (HBS) is seeking a Research Associate (RA) to collaborate with a faculty member in the Organizational Behavior unit. This role focuses on academic writing related to leadership, strategy, and organizational design. The RA will assist the faculty with various projects, including podcast production, case writing, and an upcoming book project. Under the general direction of the faculty member, the RA will explore a wide range of questions, providing subject-area knowledge, analysis, and interpretation. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment that demands independence, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to exercise discretionary judgment. This position is particularly suited for candidates considering pursuing a PhD in the future. The primary responsibilities of the RA include developing, designing, conducting, analyzing, and implementing research in areas related to organizational behavior, business turnarounds, and transformations. The RA will conduct background research, gather, analyze, edit, and draft various forms of academic writing, including archival sources, cases, articles, case supplements, project reports, and policy memos. Additionally, the RA will create original writing based on research and interviews with business leaders, provide analysis and editing for academic journal articles, book writing, podcast support, HBS cases, and teaching notes. The RA will also develop and synthesize literature reviews, distill information to identify key themes, and manage timelines and deliverables for multiple projects independently. The position requires the RA to exercise independent decision-making regarding research project progression and methodologies, ensuring compliance with department, University, and federal regulations. The RA will complete work with general direction and must be aware of department, School, and University policies, as well as potential outside research policies. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
