About The Position

The successful candidates will join an established research team in atmospheric modeling and data assimilation and work collaboratively with scientists at the University of Utah, NOAA , NASA , NCAR , and the broad community. The specific research projects involve tropical convection over Maritime Continent and the Atlantic Ocean. Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required: Nearly Continuously: Office and remote site environments Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting. Infrequently: Bending, reaching overhead, capable of lifting 50 lb

Requirements

  • Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or relevant fields
  • familiarity with numerical modeling
  • strong programming abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Previous research experiences in one of the following areas (but not limited to): cloud and mesoscale modeling, atmospheric boundary layer, tropical convection, tropical cyclones, and data assimilation are helpful.
