About The Position

The Research Associate (RA) position at Harvard Business School is designed for a highly motivated individual to support the Private Capital Project, focusing on private equity, entrepreneurial finance, and venture capital. The RA will assist faculty in their research agendas by managing complex datasets, conducting analyses, and collaborating with the research team. This role requires strong conceptual abilities, communication skills, and the capacity to work independently under pressure, while ensuring compliance with university regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in research or a related area.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite and evidence of academic excellence.
  • Proven evidence of independent research in a specific advanced field of study.
  • Ability to read academic material and write thoughtful analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or experience in research related to private equity and investments.
  • Knowledge of additional statistical software or programming languages.
  • Evidence of high-quality academic writing and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty by applying complex research ideas and methodologies to the research agenda.
  • Collect, manage, and manipulate complex datasets using tools like Stata, R, or Python.
  • Develop, design, conduct, analyze, and implement research projects.
  • Structure assignments and manage priorities while keeping supervisors informed.
  • Provide analysis, editing, and drafts for internal and external deliverables.
  • Exercise independent decision-making regarding research project progression and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the research team to advance progress and develop new insights.
  • Ensure compliance with department, university, and federal regulations.
