About The Position

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine seeks candidates for a Senior Research Associate to assist in investigations of bioinspired immunoregulatory macrocyclic peptides. This is a part time position (60%). Under the direction of Principal Investigators, our research studies focus on peptidic effectors of mammalian innate immunity for drug development. The laboratory employs an array of general scientific laboratory research practices and procedures, including molecular biology, protein biochemistry, enzyme kinetics, immune signaling pathways, microbiology, and animal models for acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Under direct supervision, he/she participate in the design and execution of studies to characterize the interactions of macrocyclic peptides in in vitro and in vivo models of inflammatory disorders including IBD and RA, as well as rodent cancer models. He/she will carry out studies using in silico and bioinformatic approaches to develop testable hypotheses regarding the mechanisms and pharmacodynamics of natural and engineered macrocyclic peptides. The Senior Research Associate will be given the opportunity to develop new approaches that complement ongoing expertise in the laboratory. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a minimum of 3 years experience conducting research on natural or engineered peptidic agents implicated in health and disease. Candidates should have expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and bioinformatics, as well as demonstrated expertise in data analysis, manuscript preparation, and a successful record of publication. A collaborative approach to scientific investigation and the willingness to teach are essential. The University offers a competitive salary and benefit package. Flexible hours will be required.
