About The Position

The Department of Pharmacology & Neuroscience is seeking a highly self-motivated Research Associate to join our dynamic research team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological diseases and disorders, including stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. Our research focuses on neuroinflammation, epigenetic regulation and microRNAs, and protein regulation and degradation pathways such as ubiquitination and autophagy. The overarching goal of the laboratory is to identify novel therapeutic targets for these challenging neurological conditions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other laboratory scientists to design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, analyze and interpret data, and contribute to scientific manuscripts and reports.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. or M.S. in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field
  • Minimum of 3 years of research laboratory experience.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, data documentation, and statistical analysis with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in neurological disorders and disease mechanisms is helpful.
  • Experience with rodent handling and surgical procedures is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the PI and lab members to design, perform, and troubleshoot in vitro and in vivo experiments
  • Conduct a wide range of laboratory testing and provide technical support for ongoing research projects
  • Document experimental procedures and results; maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks
  • Analyze data using complex statistical software and prepare summaries and reports
  • Participate in lab meetings, data discussions, and research planning
  • Uphold institutional core values, ethical standards, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment
