About The Position

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects. Position Summary Temporary, Staff, Part Time, Non-Benefited position through 8/31/2026 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). Salary: $29.00 per hour. Location: CSUSB Campus. Work Schedule 19 hours per week. Generally Monday-Friday between 8:00AM and 5:00PM. Schedule will depend on experimental needs, but most weeks will include lab meetings and appointments with supervisor. Some nights and weekends may be required. Requirements

  • Education: M.S. degree in Biology or related field, or B.S. degree in Biology or related field and five years professional laboratory research experience.
  • Experience: Professional experience in protein biochemistry, affinity chromatography, molecular cloning, microbial genetics, cell biology, solutions and media preparation, lab organization and lab safety procedures.
  • Other: Strong background in protein biochemistry, affinity chromatography, molecular cloning, microbial genetics, cell biology.
  • Lab organization.
  • Lab safety procedures.
  • Computer literacy for scientific writing and document drafting.
  • Communication and statistical analysis.
  • Data organization and management.
  • Solutions and media preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Performance of laboratory research experiments and organization of lab research space and resources.
  • Laboratory organization and safety compliance.
  • Solutions and media preparation.
  • Organization of lab resources, including DNA reagent and microbe collections.
  • Molecular biology procedures related to microbial genetics.
  • Cell biology assays inclusive of growth, viability, microscopic analyses.
  • Biochemistry assays related to enzymology and protein-protein interactions.
  • Recombinant protein expression and purification.
  • Experimental planning, preparation and execution.
  • Research data organization and analysis.
