The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate for research into low phase noise integrated circuits. This role will include leadership on a team in the design, tapeout and measurement of experimental ultra low phase noise mm-wave frequency synthesizers, as well as other low noise electronics to assist in hybrid electronic-photonic systems. Expertise in research in the area of ultra-low phase noise RF integrated circuits and integrated electromagnetics is required. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment, educate and train junior graduate students and meet project goal and deadlines.

  • Lead a team in the design, tapeout, and measurement of experimental ultra low phase noise mm-wave frequency synthesizers.
  • Assist in the development of low noise electronics for hybrid electronic-photonic systems.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Educate and train junior graduate students.
  • Meet project goals and deadlines.
  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required by appointment start date.
  • Experience in integrated circuit and electromagnetic design at ultra low phase noise levels and/or mm-wave frequencies.
  • Experience in analysis, simulation, layout, and measurement of circuits.
  • Extensive experience of two years or more in a measurement laboratory environment.
  • Experience measuring low phase noise and high frequency circuits directly through packaging or on-wafer probing.
  • Access to benefits available to postdoctoral associates at UVA.
