About The Position

At the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF), your work unlocks new knowledge, supports patient-centered care, and advances cardiovascular research and education. As a Research Associate, you’ll do more than support studies—you’ll help propel a mission that changes and saves lives. Position Summary The Research Associate (RA) supports the ongoing needs of clinical research trials, research databases and other research projects in support of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) mission. This position will be responsible for collecting and entering patient data into study data systems. The RA may also assist with general administrative support.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Minimum one year experience working with data management systems.
  • Must be able to read medical charts and understand basic medical concepts.
  • Able to self-direct, take initiative, and use good judgement while addressing concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with others as a team and in support of a positive work culture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and numerical aptitude.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support activities for research studies within assigned therapeutic area, which may include:
  • Identify, collect, interpret, and register clinical trial data from medical records and other source documents.
  • Enter study required data into electronic or paper Case Report Forms (CRFs), registries, and local data systems (e.g., EDC, Florence, RealTime, EPIC).
  • With supervision, make patient contacts to collect study required data and/or consent patients for participation in registry or other minimal risk clinical studies.
  • Complete study specific imaging transfers for multiple studies
  • Maintain study documentation under the oversight of the research coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively with all MHIF employees as part of a positive, supportive culture
  • May contribute to dissemination of research by drafting text and/or charts for abstracts, manuscripts and poster/Power Point presentations.
  • May provide support for regulatory activities using approved templates for vetted proposals
  • Participate in continuing learning opportunities, such as observations, didactics and expert care, and shadowing.
  • Contribute to Research and/or MHIF organizational quality improvement initiatives as delegated by MHIF leadership.
  • May provide support for research studies outside of assigned therapeutic area
  • Complete other administrative and study-related tasks, as assigned.
