About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for NJMS - Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. This position is integral to the ongoing research efforts at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), which is dedicated to improving human health through education, clinical care, and research. The Research Associate will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for planning and executing experiments independently. This role is crucial for advancing the laboratory's research objectives and contributing to the scientific community through rigorous experimentation and analysis. The Research Associate will perform various research and technical operations related to the laboratory's investigatory activities. This may include conducting specialized research for specific projects, assisting in the development of new procedures and instrumentation functions, and performing highly skilled procedures such as stereotactic surgery for brain injection and implantation. The individual will also engage in in vivo imaging techniques, mouse perfusion and slice preparation, immunocytochemistry, RNAscope assays, and behavioral tests. Accurate data recording and analysis are essential, as is maintaining detailed records of individual experiments and research activities. In addition to experimental work, the Research Associate will contribute to the writing of manuscripts and review articles that stem from their research. This includes writing and submitting abstracts for scientific meetings, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of the laboratory's work. The position is full-time, with a standard work schedule of 37.5 hours per week, primarily during the day shift. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a record of excellence and productivity in research, showcasing their ability to lead work independently while also mentoring graduate students and technicians in the lab.
