We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Upstream RAII or Sr. Research Associate to join our team onsite in Redmond, WA. This individual will lead and execute upstream project process development (USP) and technology transfer activities to support the development of clinical manufacturing processes for our protein therapeutics pipeline. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, bioreactor operations, and process scale-up for biologics production.

Requirements

  • BS/BA with 2+ years of experience, or MS with 1+ years of experience in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • Relevant research experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Basic understanding of mammalian cell culture.
  • CHO cell culture experience preferred.
  • Bioreactor setup and operation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to grasp scientific concepts, interpret complex data, and formulate new hypothesis.
  • Requires competency in aseptic laboratory technique and the ability to design and carry out complex experiments and interpret data.
  • Requires demonstrated effectiveness in collaborative projects, and ability to communicate effectively with scientists and management in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to lift 30lbs (cell culture media/buffer bags).
  • Occasional weekend work will be required.
  • Work Location Assignment: On Premise.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical knowledge and/or experience with microbial/mammalian cell culture metabolism, scale up, GLP/GMP practices, and technology transfers to pilot/commercial sites.
  • Team oriented, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Well organized and great attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan and execute experiments in shake flasks, bench-top bioreactors, and other appropriate scale-down equipment in the development laboratory.
  • Ensures timely, effective, and high-quality documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and internal technical reports.
  • Share results with stakeholders and present data to colleagues, management, and external audiences through project meetings, technical reviews, and conferences.
  • Support the technology transfer of manufacturing processes to pilot, clinical, and commercial facilities.
  • Provide support and troubleshoots during manufacturing campaigns as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional groups to support safe, efficient, and well-organized lab operations.
