About The Position

PTC Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic associate to join our Multiomics team in Mountain View, CA. The successful candidate will join a diverse team employing cutting edge tools to investigate the roles of ferroptosis, inflammation, and metabolism in both rare and pediatric disorders. The Multiomics team is looking for someone who is: organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and a self-starter. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on support in a technically advanced, fast-paced laboratory environment, with a strong commitment to accuracy, precision, and the timely execution of tasks. The Research Associate II will execute, analyze, and report experimental results to their supervisor and the broader Multiomics group. This position will adhere to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 1 – 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with a strong preference for prior LC-MS/MS experience.
  • Proficient with standard laboratory equipment (e.g. pipettes, centrifuges, balances, and homogenizers).
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
  • Prior use of sample preparation techniques for the extraction and quantitation of small molecules, peptides, or proteins from biofluids and tissues.
  • Familiarity with bioanalytical software applications (e.g. Analyst, Excel, or Prism).
  • Detail-oriented worker with superb organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communicator with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and respond quickly to shifting priorities while adhering to project timelines
  • B.S. degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with at least 1-2 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with sample processing for downstream proteomics or biomarker analysis is preferred.
  • Prior experience with liquid robotic handlers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment (e.g. LC-MS/MS, ELISA, liquid handlers).
  • Execute sample preparation and enrichment protocols for multiple sample types (e.g. plasma, CSF, tissues, and cells) to enable downstream multiomic analyses.
  • Prepares buffers, stocks, and standards according to SOP’s to perform routine system suitability checks.
  • Analyzes data, QC’s peer data, documents results, and presents findings to the Multiomics team.
  • Tracks daily progress in Agile software to provide real-time updates for project stakeholders.
  • Abides by all safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Demonstrates compliance with corporate, department, and job-specific requirements.
  • Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.
