About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Research Associate I. This is a grant funded position with an end date of 8/31/2025, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals. This position will provide research assistance/support for research projects in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Austin working as part of a team of faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or technical field.
  • Basic engineering and/or scientific equipment ordinarily used in college laboratory work.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) and interact skillfully with investigators, staff, and researchers.
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently without continuous supervision.
  • Ability to work with overlapping projects and with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and deadline-driven, customer service-oriented environment.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with projects involving human subject research.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with REDCap.
  • Phlebotomy experience & certification.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews medical records and conducts pre-screens and full screenings for study recruitment.
  • Obtains informed consent from study participants, ensuring they understand the study procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts to enroll trial participants.
  • Executes data collection procedure and assessments and assist with subject recruitment.
  • Accurately enters data into electronic data capture systems and maintain data integrity.
  • Reports adverse events in accordance with regulatory requirements and study protocols.
  • Addresses and resolves data queries in a timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines associated with clinical trials.
  • Participates in subject management, including phone calls and general coordination to schedule patients for study visits and follow-ups.
  • Work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), clinicians, and other research staff to facilitate study operations.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
  • Performs administrative and coordinating tasks pertaining to study management.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
