About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and responsible Research Associate I/II/III to join Dr. Brian Koss’ Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The Research Associate will assist in the management of the laboratory and will work directly with Dr. Koss to make major contributions to ongoing research projects. There will be opportunities for attending conferences, collaborating on publications, and supervising undergraduate and graduate researchers. The Research Associate duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: assist with in-vivo experiments; perform flow-cytometry, western blot, PCR, and cell culture techniques; maintain supplies for adequate laboratory function and order supplies and equipment as needed; maintain laboratory safety manuals and equipment. The candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn new concepts and technical skills, but most meaningfully harbor an enthusiasm for working in a team-based environment. Prior experience with cellular and molecular immunology techniques is highly desired.

Requirements

  • RA I: Master’s degree in Science or related field; plus 2 years research and/or research lab experience required OR Bachelor's degree in Science or related field; plus 4 years research and/or research lab experience required.
  • RA II: Master’s degree in Science or related field; plus 3 years research and/or research lab experience required OR Bachelor's degree in Science or related field; plus 5 years research and/or research lab experience required.
  • RA III: Master’s degree in Science or related field; plus 4 years research and/or research lab experience required OR Bachelor's degree in Science or related field; plus 6 years research and/or research lab experience required.
  • Candidates with a PhD are also encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with cellular and molecular immunology techniques is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and performing research experiments.
  • Analyzing data and assembling figures for publication.
  • Keeping descriptive and accurate records of all experiments performed and analysis.
  • Managing mouse colonies and assisting with in vivo experiments
  • Perform Western blots and PCR, and cell culture techniques; and assist with general laboratory techniques
  • Ordering supplies, attending lab meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
