About The Position

The Research Associate provides strong molecular biology and genome engineering support to build scalable IVT/circular vector production and genotyping workflows. This position serves as a key contributor to experimental execution, data generation, and workflow optimization across genome engineering programs. This role works with genome and cell engineering teams to develop, implement, and maintain workflows within the Genome Engineering Technology (GET) department. This position reports to the Associate Scientist, Genome Engineering. This position is based on-site in Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA handling, and cloning
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, or related field
  • Prior relevant and hands-on laboratory research experience (industry or academic)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with genome editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR, Prime Editing) preferred
  • Knowledge of IVT, RNA production, or NGS workflows is a plus
  • Experience with automation systems or high-throughput workflows is a plus
  • Proficiency with standard lab equipment and data recording tools (e.g., Benchling)
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute molecular cloning workflows, including circular vector design and assembly
  • Perform in vitro transcription (IVT) to produce high-quality mRNA
  • Conduct genomic DNA extraction, PCR, and NGS library preparation for genotyping
  • Support optimization of genome editing workflows, including editor design and delivery strategies
  • Maintain accurate experimental records in Benchling (ELN)
  • Organize reagent inventories and track experimental materials
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support genome engineering projects
  • Assist in troubleshooting and improving experimental protocols
