A one-year full-time Post-Doctoral research position (Research Associate) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Allison Kuipers in the Department of Medicine in the College of Human Medicine, at Michigan State University, Grand Rapids campus. A motivated recent doctoral graduate is sought to support aspects of Dr. Kuipers' research portfolio in the field of cardiovascular genetic epidemiology. This position will include tasks related to data analysis, manuscript preparation and dissemination, and involvement in the development of future collaborations and grant proposals. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or other doctoral degree with expertise in modern genetic epidemiological methods and analytic techniques. Experience in research related to cardiovascular disease is preferred. A self-directed willingness to learn new methods and approaches, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are highly valued. The goal of this one-year position would be to work with Dr. Kuipers to develop a successful independent postdoctoral research fellowship proposal to fund the remainder of the position. This position also has the potential for collaboration with local clinical partners and guidance in the development of an independent research career for the Post-Doc.

  • Expertise using R and/or SAS, as well as exceptional communication skills highly desirable.
  • Experience with cardiovascular disease research a plus.
