A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Isabelle Derré in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia. The Derré Lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of Chlamydia infection, with particular emphasis on host-pathogen interactions studied in vitro and in vivo. Our NIH-funded research examines the roles of Chlamydia -specific effector proteins in bacterial progression through the developmental cycle, inclusion-mediated remodeling of host cellular organelles and pathways, and lipid acquisition. In addition, the lab is developing physiologically relevant 3D in vitro model systems to investigate multiple aspects of Chlamydia infection biology. The successful candidate will actively participate in research discussions within the lab and with external collaborators; lead the preparation of scientific communications, including figures, manuscripts, grant applications, abstracts, and presentations for conferences as appropriate; and contribute to lab-wide research support activities in a collaborative and collegial environment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and aligned with current NIH postdoctoral salary guidelines. Fringe benefits will be provided in accordance with University of Virginia Human Resources policies.
