About the Role >>> Research Associate, Biology As a Research Associate reporting to the Principal Scientist, Biology, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to support the development of new drug candidates. You will perform a variety of cell and molecular biology procedures under the mentorship of senior scientists. This position will support biology team operations by performing cellular assays, optimizing assay protocols, and implementing quantitative molecular assays. This role is based out of our San Francisco office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related scientific discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, or other analytical software
  • Background in cell biology and/or oncology
  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time lab experience
  • Experience performing sterile mammalian cell culture is required
  • Familiarity with cell-based assays and basic molecular biology techniques
  • Effective verbal and written communication and skills
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Effective planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects

Nice To Haves

  • Flow cytometry experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Under guidance, designing and executing experiments and communicating results as part of multi-disciplinary team(s)
  • Troubleshooting experiments; design controls and generate interpretable data
  • Appling relevant scientific principles and techniques to research problems
  • Maintaining detailed electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and record results in a timely manner
  • Maintaining knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and techniques
  • With appropriate training, performing high throughput screening using lab automation, including fully integrated robots, liquid handlers, etc.
  • Presenting findings internally and contribute to the publication of the work of the project team
  • Contributing to laboratory needs, such as stock maintenance and ordering supplies
  • General lab duties as assigned
  • Managing outsourced projects
  • Update and maintenance of databases
