The University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida is seeking a Research Associate, RAD lab for the School of Architecture. The Research Associate will possess an understanding of research objectives and procedures, and under the direction of the Dean of the School of Architecture, will provide support for project-based research and design activities in architecture and urbanism with emphasis on smart and embedded technology, as well as teach core courses within the School of Architecture. Position will also contribute to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases, etc. and include teaching duties.

  • Computer aided design – assisting with design and digital modeling of proposed projects under direction of the Dean
  • Model construction and prototyping – building physical models of proposed designs under direction of the Dean
  • Assisting with programming for Processing and Arduino platforms under direction of the Dean
  • Data collection/fieldwork – conducting research via onsite visits, and in libraries, archives, and collections
  • Collect, record, organize, analyze facts
  • Collecting and analyzing data
  • Maintaining databases
  • Teaching duties
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related field
  • 2 years of related experience
