About The Position

ABOUT SINGULAR GENOMICS Singular Genomics is inventing at the forefront of genomics, one of the world’s fastest-growing industries. The commercially available G4® Sequencing Platform is a powerful, highly versatile benchtop genomic sequencer designed to produce fast and accurate results. In addition, the company is currently developing the G4X™ Spatial Sequencer, an upgrade to the G4, which will leverage Singular’s proprietary sequencing technology, applying it as an in situ readout for transcriptomics, proteomics and fluorescent H&E in tissue, with spatial context. Singular Genomics’ mission is to empower researchers and clinicians to advance science and medicine. We foster a culture of creativity and technical excellence, both catalysts for innovation. We celebrate diversity, emphasize collaboration and, as we rapidly mature, we are constantly looking at ways we can do better for our people. Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Associate 2 will independently execute and optimize molecular biology and in-situ multiomics workflows in support of assay development and product launch. This role combines hands-on molecular biology, tissue-based assays, imaging, sequencing workflows, and data analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, a growth mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot and refine protocols in a collaborative and fast-paced R&D environment.

Requirements

  • Independently execute and optimize molecular biology and spatial multiomics workflows with high reproducibility and attention to detail
  • Perform standard molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA purification and quantification, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and other basic assays
  • Conduct and troubleshoot tissue-based assays including H&E staining, immunostaining, and in situ hybridization (ISH)
  • Evaluate tissue morphology and assay performance to inform technical decision-making
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including the G4X benchtop sequencer
  • Utilize imaging software (e.g., FIJI/ImageJ) to evaluate raw images
  • Interpret experimental data to inform decisions and guide next steps
  • Identify technical challenges and propose data-driven solutions to improve assay robustness and workflow efficiency
  • Document experimental design, protocols, and results clearly and comprehensively
  • Present technical findings to cross-functional teams and contribute to project discussions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (molecular biology, imaging, bioinformatics, engineering) to advance platform development
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, ensure proper instrument maintenance, and uphold a safe and organized work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with spatial transcriptomics, spatial proteomics, or high-plex imaging platforms
  • Hands-on experience with tissue handling and staining techniques (H&E, immunostaining, and/or ISH)
  • Background in histology with understanding of tissue architecture
  • Experience operating sequencing platforms and/or complex instrumentation
  • Exposure to assay development, optimization, or platform validation efforts
  • Strong technical rigor and commitment to reproducibility
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and propose next steps
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of experimental outcomes
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across functional teams
  • Eager to continuously improve workflows and technical capabilities
