About The Position

The Research Associate 2 position at the Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism (LCAU) involves working on ongoing projects that focus on planning and conducting research aimed at advancing innovation in urban environments. The role includes collaboration with the LCAU Director to develop new research initiatives centered around the current tri-annual research theme on energy in the urban environment. Additionally, there may be opportunities to contribute to MIT courses related to urban design, GIS, data visualization, and the intersection of technology, including AI, with urban environments.

Requirements

• Master's degree in architecture, urban design, urban planning, geography, or a related field.
• Minimum of four years of direct research experience.
• Evidence of original or collaborative scholarship.
• Excellent research skills and outstanding written/verbal communication.
• Demonstrated project management and exhibition experience.
• Experience working across diverse disciplines and with broad networks of collaborators.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in producing scholarly publications, exhibitions, and interactive multi-media.
