About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth department of The Miami Project has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time TEMP/Per Diem Research Associate 1 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research. Our research is focused on chronic pain and development of cell transplantation therapies. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in handling small laboratory rodents, including behavioral testing and familiarity with surgical implantations. Experience in tissue analysis and immunocytochemical processing is also needed. The Research Associate must be capable of working under minimal supervision following training. Necessary training for specific methods and procedures will be provided. The Research Associate will be expected to provide timely reports and participate in data analysis and presentation of results for scientific conferences, publications, and grant applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • No previous experience required

Responsibilities

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in the publication of significant results.
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
  • Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Laboratory rodent behavioral testing
  • Immunocytochemical analysis of tissues and cell cultures
  • Rodent surgical implantation
  • Assistance in growing and differentiating stem cell cultures
  • Prepare reports, assist with manuscript submissions
  • Other duties as assigned
